Oh, for the love of pets! Why people won’t budge on pet spending despite inflation.

When pet parents say their animals are like their children, they’re not kidding - and now they’ve got the spending habits to prove it. According to a USA TODAY article, nearly half of pet owners spend as much or more on their pets as they do on their kids, with food and healthcare topping the list.
Even with inflation squeezing wallets everywhere, people aren’t budging when it comes to their pets. Over 40% spend $100 - $299 per month, and more than 1 in 5 spend over $300. The kicker? 53% say they’d cut back on their own comforts before compromising their pet’s lifestyle. That’s true love (and probably fewer lattes).
Some are even willing to go into debt to cover care, and a quarter would delay their own medical needs to prioritize their pet’s health. Why? Because pets aren’t just pets, they’re our joy, our comfort, our daily dose of unconditional love. In fact, 82% say their pet brings them more happiness than anything else they spend money on.
