Purina 10-ounce Tub Foods Recalled for Nutritional Deficiency

Purina has voluntarily recalled several of their tubbed foods under the Beneful Chopped Blends, Beneful Prepared Meals, and Pro Plan Savory Meals brands due to concerns about the nutritional content of these foods. The Purina team values the health and safety of your dog, and has found some nutritional defiencies in their own routine internal quality tests.

Purina explains that the food does contain most of the vitamins and minerals that dogs need, but recommend discarding the affected products to ensure proper health and balanced nutrition for your pup. You may contact the company for a complete refund if you have purchased any of the affected lots.

The nutritional deficiency is primarily a concern for dogs who have been fed these tubbed foods as their sole food source for several weeks or more. If you have fed the food and have questions about the potential impact to your pet, please contact whiskerDocs or your primary veterinarian.

Here are the highlights of what is included in this recall. Please note that only the 10-ounce wet food tub varieties of the following foods are included in this voluntary recall:

  • Beneful Chopped Blends -- All 6 flavor varieties -- Best By date range of June 2017 to August 2017 -- production range code of 5363 to 6054
