Nature's Variety Raw Dog Food Recall

Nature's Variety has issued a voluntary recall of Instict Raw Chicken Formula for Dogs due to concern over potential contamination with salmonella. The only specific lot included in the recall would be any bags containing the "Best By" date of 4/27/2016. The following lines/UPC codes are included:

  • UPC 769949611431 - 4lb Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs
  • UPC 769949611448 - 7lb Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs
  • UPC 769949611486 - 6lb Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Patties for Dogs

Humans who have handled these products and dogs who have eaten them are equally at risk. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include mostly gastrointestinal problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea with or without blood in it, and stomach cramps or abdominal pain.

Although no illnesses have been reported, discontinue use of any of the affected products and contact your veterinarian if you have concerns about your pet after feeding these products. You can also return the product for a full refund or exchange by bringing the product in its original packaging back and the proof of purchase to your local retailer.
